Richard

I, age 25, am the Men's Program Helper. I came to the mission after a series of setbacks in my personal life. I went through a series of financial difficulties, romantic breakups, and family estrangement. After treatment for depression in a secular facility, I came to the Albany Rescue Mission.

I had a head knowledge of God but didn't have the Lord Jesus in my life. After weeks of hearing the Word of God at the mission, I still couldn't bring myself to turn everything over to Christ. Then, a very close call at an auto accident made me realize just how fleeting and unsure life can be. That was the day I called for Jesus to enter my heart and grant me the assurance of eternal salvation.

I applied for several jobs in the area, but they never seemed to pan out. Bro. Larry told me to look for a job if I wanted, but to pray about serving the mission. I have chosen to stay on and help with the ministry to the "Least, the Last, and the Lost."

I feel my testimony can be summed up in the words of Proverbs 3:35: The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

I was ashamed of who I was by the ungodly things I did, and for ignoring Christ for so long. Now that I have accepted Christ into my heart, I am being wise through my faith in Him. For that I shall inherit all the needed riches and glory He shall reward on earth and in heaven.
